"This Blog is Leaving the Station..."

So everyone, it's officially official: I am leaving tomorrow for a trip of unknown duration (!) to see some of the places I have always wanted to see. There's no time like the present, right? There will be much yoga and meditation involved, as well as a good deal of sightseeing. I promise to take lots of photos, and to blog whenever I can--but if you don't see me commenting on your posts for a while, well, now you'll know why.
I'm bringing along enough yarn for 1 pair of socks, and a pretty large lace shawl--got to pack light since it's all going to be in my ultra-outdoorsy camping backpack, which does not hold as much stuff as the massive rolling bag that usually accompanies me. I've heard that people knit in India, though, so hopefully I can find yarn if I run out. We shall see....

Where have I been?

Well, let me tell you:
Pattern: Baby Sachiko Kimono Sweater
Yarn: Blue Sky Organic Cotton in bone (MC) and sage (CC)
Needles: US #7 Addi Turbos
For: Gleek's little Peanut!
Now, you guys know how I feel about babies. Or maybe you don't. They have always kinda freaked me out. They're so small and fragile-looking, and they drool and spit up, and I just stare at them in wonder and think, "A month ago, there was just my friend and her husband, and now there are THREE of them!!!" and it's REALLY weird, and I can't quite get my head around it. Maybe I never will.
But since my beloved friends have started getting pregnant, I have become obsessed with knitting for them. Making sure everything is "just so." Which leads me to this:
Or these, I guess I should say. The Super-special Spiders Blankies for Baby Gleek and Baby Mebeth.
Since Steph is usually the organizer for our little crew, I decided to take on the responsibility for these blankets and get the whole thing going. Each Spider knit a square for each blankie, and everyone seamed together at top speed, and then I put the backing on yesterday. And wow, did this little endeavor make me appreciate our Steph even more than I already do. :) There is a lot to being the organizer, and she does it with such grace and ease. Steph, you rock.
So, I think the mommies-to-be were happy with their gifts: Today was their shower at Red Bamboo Brooklyn, and it's safe to say that a very good time was had by all. The always-friendly staff kept the mimosas flowing all afternoon (for us non-pregnant girls) and the food was delicious.
A Baby Bog by Veronique and a Log-Cabin Blanket by Katie and Amanda:
Not sure what was just said before this was snapped, but I'd like to know:
The girls:Baby MJ!
Once again, I couldn't imagine a nicer way to spend a Sunday--good company, good food and drinks, and the giving of yummy knitterly gifts--what could be better?

Spiders Spin!

Well, I apologize for the long hiatus--I went down to Georgia last week to visit the fam (somehow managing to escape the coldest week of the winter in NYC), and while there was much going on, none of it was particularly crafty or blog-worthy.
But I'm back in NYC now, and rest assured, there is knitting and crafting happening everywhere! Sunday found us at Marie's AMAZING apartment for a lovely afternoon of knitting and spinning!
Cake, knitting, and "The Money Pit":
I get a drafting lesson from Marie:
(Thanks, Steph, for the photo! :)
And we even had a smiley baby MJ to entertain us!
As for the Anemoi Mittens.... I swear, I'm getting close. If you people (you know who you are) would stop it with the procreating, I'd be a lot closer! But I'll try to speed it up.
